Massachusetts Based Bertucci’s Purchased by Earl Enterprises
Known for its authentic, scratch-made Italian food, Massachusetts-based restaurant chain Bertucci’s has been purchased by Earl Enterprises. Find out what Robert Earl, founder of Earl Enterprises, and Brian Wright, CEO of Bertucci’s, have to say about the exciting sale.
The first Bertucci’s restaurant opened in 1981 within the Davis Square neighborhood of Somerville, Massachusetts. With 58 locations up and down the East Coast, Bertucci’s is a classic Northeast staple known for artisanal authentic brick-oven pizzas, handcrafted pastas, exhibition kitchens and homemade Italian signatures.
“We are delighted to announce the ownership of Bertucci’s. Our love affair with Boston is very deep and we look forward to continuing business in a thriving market. Bertucci’s is an iconic brand that so many have come to love and enjoy, therefore it is really important to continue this tradition,” said Robert Earl, Founder of Earl Enterprises. “I love the menu, from the rolls to the pizza to the pasta dishes. We are excited to add Bertucci’s to our portfolio of brands.”
The Earl Enterprises umbrella also encompasses Buca di Beppo, Planet Hollywood, Earl of Sandwich, Café Hollywood and other well-known brands.
The deal will allow Bertucci’s to exit Chapter 11, restructuring under new ownership as Bertucci’s Holdings LLC. The restaurant chain has been following a brief court-approved restructuring and sale process, while still running its day-to-day operations. CEO Brian Wright and CFO Brian Connell will continue in their respective roles, forging the direction started more than a year ago to return the Bertucci’s brand to its Italian scratch-kitchen roots.
“Today is a great day for Bertucci’s,” said Brian Wright. “Through the restructuring process, Bertucci’s Holdings clearly saw our vision and wants to build upon the foundation our team has worked so hard to establish.”
