Science is Everywhere! Kids Week at Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum

January 17, 2018

Sports. Art. Theater. Music. Nature.

No matter the subject or activity, the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will showcase that science is everywhere during its annual Kids Week festival, February 18 through 24, 2018.

Kids Week will be packed with fun-filled activities, hands-on workshops, live performances, special guests, and interactive demonstrations that will help kids learn the science behind their favorite sports, games, art, theater, music and more.

Here’s just a glimpse.

The Science of Sports and Games
February 18 and 19, kids can hone their fastball skills while learning about the physics of a pitch, perfect their golf swings with experts, learn to throw a perfect spiral, meet the iconic baseball mascot Mr. Met and more.

The Science of Arts and Music
February 20 and 21, casts of Broadway musicals will take the stage for show-stopping performances. Kids can showcase their artistic skills in drawing, create their own comic books, explore puppetry in workshops and meet popular Nickelodeon characters.

Science and the Natural World
February 22 through 24, penguins, kangaroos and other exciting animals will join the Intrepid team. Special guest Jarod Miller, a zoologist and naturalist who has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Night with Conan O’Brien, will bring his amazing animals to help teach students about wildlife and the natural world.

Astronauts and engineers from NASA—like NASA spacewalk flight controller and lead trainer Allison Bollinger, former NASA astronaut Mike Massimino and astronomer Jason Kailari—will be onboard to share about space and robotics.

All Kids Week activities are free with museum admission. In addition to the festivities, Intrepid Museum educators will lead live demonstrations, planetarium presentations and sketch theater performances. Tour Guide Talks will also be available throughout the day.
