Schedule Overview (subject to change)

Friday, Jan 20th: Arrive Honolulu

Aloha and E Komo Mai to the beautiful island of Oahu.  Attendees will arrive on their own and take transportation to the host hotel.  Join us for a welcome reception at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel, Waikiki Beach.

Saturday, Jan 21st: North Shore, Oahu

Today we’ll explore the North Shore of Oahu a popular place to take student groups.  Our first stop is Kualoa Ranch where we will have the opportunity to walk the grounds and meet with their education director.  Kualoa offers a plethora of opportunities to learn about Hawaiian culture, and participate in outdoor team-building activities and sustainable farming.  The next stop is the Polynesian Cultural Center and a quick tour through the Islands of Polynesia.   Then we are off to The Valley of the Priests, Waimea Valley, a place of cultural and religious significance. Waimea Valley offers educational tours that connect young people to the ‘aina (land) and teach the mo’oleo (story) of the valley and in turn create cultural and environmental stewards.

Lunch is in quaint Haleiwa town where you’ll have time to grab some Grindz (food) and explore the town.  It is also the perfect place to try Hawaii’s famous Shave Ice before setting off.  The Dole Plantation is our last stop, and we’ll have the opportunity to take the train ride around the grounds.  Of course, this is home to the famous Dole Whip, a must-try icy treat!

Sunday, Jan 22nd: Pearl Harbor Day

Rise and Shine!  We start the day with a Honolulu City Highlights tour as we make out way to the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center Complex.  At the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, we’ll meet with a National Park Ranger that will escort us around the grounds.  Next up is a visit to the retired Bowfin Submarine and Pacific Fleet Museum then we are off to Ford Island and the USS Missouri “Mighty Mo” where we’ll tour the decks and see the performance area for groups before venturing over to the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum.  These four sites make up the Pearl Harbor Visitor Complex which offers educational and performance opportunities.  This afternoon joins us on a sunset catamaran cruise and farewell reception post-cruise. Greg Dotson – Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts

There is so much value in attending Summit! The networking opportunities with leaders in the student travel industry are priceless. I was inspired by the great conversations around Sustainability and Responsible Travel and moved when our former scholarship winner, Gandi, shared his story. Scottsdale was a perfect destination for exploring and spending time with new and old colleagues.

Holly Stevenson – CCIS, Inc.

For me, SYTA Summit is centered on relationship-building, and Scottsdale has met that expectation. Whether hiking on a scenic trail with stunning views or networking with industry peers over cocktails, the experience was memorable and vital in growing our business. The educational session on sustainable travel was particularly informative, inspiring me to reevaluate our office procedures and their potential impact on student travel.

Beth Beccone – Peak Group Travel

SYTA Summit is a fantastic opportunity to collaborate and network with my industry colleagues. The education sessions help to expand my understanding of current trends and the activities with my colleagues create friendships that go well beyond the conference. Already looking forward to next year!

Jessica Johnson – Disney Imagination Campus at Walt Disney World Resorts

This years annual Summit was by far one of the best! The educational components were very robust and relevant to all in the Youth Travel Industry. The engagement opportunities allowed for deep connections amongst our community of professionals that strive to create opportunities for students to Perform, Learn, and Celebrate.
