Schedule Overview (subject to change)

Friday, Jan 20th: Arrive Honolulu

Aloha and E Komo Mai to the beautiful island of Oahu.  Attendees will arrive on their own and take transportation to the host hotel.  Join us for a welcome reception at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel, Waikiki Beach.

Saturday, Jan 21st: North Shore, Oahu

Today we’ll explore the North Shore of Oahu a popular place to take student groups.  Our first stop is Kualoa Ranch where we will have the opportunity to walk the grounds and meet with their education director.  Kualoa offers a plethora of opportunities to learn about Hawaiian culture, and participate in outdoor team-building activities and sustainable farming.  The next stop is the Polynesian Cultural Center and a quick tour through the Islands of Polynesia.   Then we are off to The Valley of the Priests, Waimea Valley, a place of cultural and religious significance. Waimea Valley offers educational tours that connect young people to the ‘aina (land) and teach the mo’oleo (story) of the valley and in turn create cultural and environmental stewards.

Lunch is in quaint Haleiwa town where you’ll have time to grab some Grindz (food) and explore the town.  It is also the perfect place to try Hawaii’s famous Shave Ice before setting off.  The Dole Plantation is our last stop, and we’ll have the opportunity to take the train ride around the grounds.  Of course, this is home to the famous Dole Whip, a must-try icy treat!

Sunday, Jan 22nd: Pearl Harbor Day

Rise and Shine!  We start the day with a Honolulu City Highlights tour as we make out way to the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center Complex.  At the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, we’ll meet with a National Park Ranger that will escort us around the grounds.  Next up is a visit to the retired Bowfin Submarine and Pacific Fleet Museum then we are off to Ford Island and the USS Missouri “Mighty Mo” where we’ll tour the decks and see the performance area for groups before venturing over to the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum.  These four sites make up the Pearl Harbor Visitor Complex which offers educational and performance opportunities.  This afternoon joins us on a sunset catamaran cruise and farewell reception post-cruise. Extend Your Stay – Our colleagues at Polynesian Adventures are happy to help you spend a few more days in beautiful Hawaii!

Steve Maehl, Global Travel Alliance

It was over ten years ago that I attended my very first SYTA event at the 2009 Summit. I learned a lot, and made new friendships, but what impressed me the most was discovering an organization that desired to come together to collectively improve our industry and continually works together to change young lives for good through travel.

Kara Mihalevich, President, Adventure Student Travel, LLC

To me, SYTA Summit is the most valuable conference that I attend. I always find the educational seminars very useful and because it is a smaller, more intimate conference, you get to build a much deeper relationship with the sponsors. This is also the only conference that I have ever really had the opportunity to get to know other attendees. I absolutely LOVE SYTA Summit!

Tara Hippensteel, National Director of Tourism, City Cruises

SYTA Summit provides an unique opportunity to get up close with my SYTA partners and many of our buyers. The environment lends itself to a causal, natural environment – no pressure just building my network!

Dr. Michael A. Mazzarisi, President, Performing Arts Consultants

The best part of a SYTA SUMMIT is that it provides the opportunity for travel professionals to meet in a conversable setting without the pressure of a 7 minute meeting or have to deal with the barrage of conference masses. Every tour operator has unique abilities, and since I am a big proponent of partnerships, SUMMIT becomes an ideal network to forge plans for new and exciting joint ventures.
