Cleveland Committed to Clean, Responsible Student Travel Experiences
Student travel planning has always been multifaceted. With the heightened need for measures to keep student travelers healthy, there’s a lot to consider when planning future group travel. Without question, enhanced safety is at the top of that list.
So, when faced with the task of how to responsibly welcome visitors, Destination Cleveland turned to its partners at Northeast Ohio’s internationally renowned healthcare institutions, many of whom were already demonstrating their innovation and collaboration to enhance the health and wellbeing of the region.
Together with Cleveland Clinic, The MetroHealth System, University Hospitals and the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, Destination Cleveland launched the CLEAN COMMITTED program. The program asks Cleveland area tourism and hospitality businesses to enhance the safety of guests and staff by adopting a standard set of cleanliness practices that are complementary to federal, state, local and trade guidelines.
As part of this initiative, Destination Cleveland offers hospitality, lodging and attraction partners CLEAN KITS to distribute to guests, which can include students visiting as part of group tours. The kits include a face mask, hand sanitizer wipes and recommended practices to follow when visiting public spaces.
“With so much uncertainty in the current travel environment, we recognize there are factors involved in the decision to travel which are often beyond our control,” David Gilbert, president & CEO of Destination Cleveland, said. “We can, however, provide a program that signifies to residents and visitors that health, cleanliness and safety are top concerns.”
