Baltimore’s tapestry of historic sites, museums and attractions blends education with fun, to deliver a rich experience for student groups of all ages and interests. Many of the museums and attractions provide curricula exclusively for groups, offering authentic and rewarding educational experiences through behind-the-scenes tours, performance spaces and parade opportunities.

The city’s centerpiece is the world-famous Inner Harbor, the historic seaport district of downtown Baltimore. It is surrounded by one-of-a-kind attractions and museums, and a variety of group-friendly restaurants. In just a few city blocks, your group can explore exotic jellyfish and sharks at the National Aquarium, discover dinosaurs at the Maryland Science Center, submerge in the courageous journey of African-Americans at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture, tour historic ships, encounter the works of “intuitive” artists at the American Visionary Art Museum or wander through pop culture icons of the past at Geppi’s Entertainment Museum. And don’t forget to check out other not-to-be-missed attractions, such as Oriole Park and the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.

Teeming with historical significance, Baltimore is an excellent destination for groups to experience American culture and heritage. Groups love to explore Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine—the birthplace of “The Star-Spangled Banner”—and join in the flag-raising ceremony. The Star-Spangled Banner Flag House recounts the story of Mary Pickersgill, who sewed the flag that flew over Fort McHenry. The National Great Blacks In Wax Museum, the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park and the B&O Railroad Museum offer peeks into the pivotal roles the city played in the nation’s history.

Baltimore boasts two notably renowned art museums: The Baltimore Museum of Art and The Walters Art Museum, both of which offer programs for groups. There are additional cultural opportunities available at the city’s leading theaters and concert halls.
