Indulging a Passion for Horses

Indulging a Passion for Horses

June 6, 2018

Horse riding engages youth in the value of teamwork, friendship, tolerance and empathy—all of which are needed in life.

Pirineo Ecuestre—a well-established riding school in the heart of Northern Spain’s majestic Pyrenees—seeks to foster respect and responsibility in youth through its Horse Riding and Language Camp.

Featuring a hotel, 40 horses, four outdoor arenas and a cross-country course, Pirineo Ecuestre is situated on the Saint James’ Way, where nothing seems to go amiss. Campers will be surrounded by majestic mountains, pure air, bright blue skies and a crystal-clear river with natural pools to swim in.

A full immersion into the world of horses and the Spanish language and culture, the Horse Riding and Language Camp includes a minimum of 22 hours of horse riding and 12 hours of Spanish class each week for youth ages 8 to 18. Campers work in small groups—with one instructor for every four to six students.

The program provides fun lessons for all levels of riders in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, where everyone feels welcome and at ease while learning the disciplines of dressage, jumping, cross-country and natural horsemanship. The program also includes workshops on hippology, ethology, veterinary care and farriery. The teaching method is based on the Galopes program from the Spanish Horse Riding Federation.

Campers are invited to indulge their passion for horses and learn Spanish at the same time, with well-trained teachers that will make them enjoy learning and practicing the language.
