The Impact of edWebinars in 2019
edWeb—a professional learning network providing educators with personalized and professional learning and collaboration aimed at improving education and student learning—has conducted their 2019 Teacher Professional Learning Survey. This research, which focuses on educators’ use of edWeb and its impact on professional learning, tracks trends and examines ways to continuously improve.
The survey found that the top reasons why teachers engage in professional learning are:
- to improve learning for their students.
- to help improve their own teaching.
- because they enjoy learning new ideas and practices from peers and experts in their field.
New for 2019, teachers were asked if edWeb impacted their students’ learning, with over 55 percent of educators saying their own learning does indeed have a direct impact. One teacher shared:
“I use edWeb almost exclusively for all my PD. I am the only teacher in my district teaching my subject so I like that I can collaborate with peers. I recommend all the webinars to people I know on Facebook, Twitter and in my district. I especially like that I can watch at any time, there is no cost, and receive a certificate with my name on it. Thank you for providing this free service.”
Another teacher noted that many of the edWebinars—which are always free—have been more useful than other expensive courses they have been required to take in the past.
edWeb currently hosts 300 live edWebinars a year and averages 3,500 live attendees and 5,000 on-demand views every week—a demonstration of powerful, sustained engagement.
