Active Candidate, SYTA: George Nimmo

George Nimmo

Tour Resource Consultants

As someone deeply committed to the SYTA community, I hope to bring a fresh, forward-thinking perspective to the Board of Directors. With a diverse range of experiences as a music educator, tour operator, music festival director, and SYTA Youth Foundation Trustee, I offer a unique skill set, consistency, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach.

Within 3 years of joining the student travel industry in 2013, my client base grew to 20-30 customized tours for approximately 2,000-3,000 travelers annually. Since becoming a partial owner of Tour Resource Consultants in 2022, our company has also grown tremendously from 3 business partners to 8 team members today. We continue to plan innovative customized tours all over the US, Europe, and the world. I ask for your vote to give me the opportunity to bring the same passion and energy to the Board of Directors.

As a small business owner and former employee of a larger company, I understand the challenges faced by operators of all sizes. I plan to use my recent experience on the SYF Board and as the Co-Chair of this year’s Programming & Scholarship Committee to enhance collaboration and contribute to the best possible outcome for our membership and the students we serve.

We are in the middle of a volatile and challenging time for our industry as we work to provide safe and affordable travel experiences while also considering the impact of inflation, tariffs, visa availability, and more. I ask for your support as I aspire to help lead our organization’s response by listening to our membership, providing transparent communication, and working tirelessly to create actionable advice and guidelines as new issues inevitably arise.

In addition to my experience as a tour operator, I continue to be a leader in the music education industry by presenting at state music educators conferences, writing about student music travel, and serving on various panels for SYTA and SYF.

I have been privileged to grow through SYTA and look forward to giving my all to our energetic, dynamic, and inclusive organization for many years to come. I’m all in. Will you join me?
