Intrepid Museum Continuing Its Mission with ‘Experience Intrepid Anywhere’
The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is ensuring the learning continues at home, by offering free online programs and digital content.
The Intrepid has served the United States for more than 75 years, playing crucial roles in World War II, the Cold War, Vietnam War and the Space Race. Now—as the centerpiece of the world-class museum Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum—it continues to serve with a new mission: to promote the awareness and understanding of history, science, and service through its collections, exhibitions, and programming, in order to honor our heroes, educate the public, and inspire our youth.
While the museum is temporarily closed, in these difficult times it remains as important as ever to stay connected and continue to fulfill its mission.
The museum has put together a one-stop shop of all its digital resources, “Experience Intrepid Anywhere,” where the public—including educators, parents and students—can stay engaged with the museum digitally.
“During unprecedented times like these, it is imperative that we work to help parents and teachers engage and educate our children,” said Lynda Kennedy, Vice President of Education at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York City. “Offering virtual museum experiences including school programs and educational materials are a logical extension of one of the museum’s core missions—to educate our youth.”
These digital resources include teacher and home school resources, virtual tours, oral histories, virtual talks, virtual veterans’ programs, and much more.
All of this compelling content can be found by visiting Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
